~ Skull & Bones ~
The Brahma responds to Randy Bone
Actually Sir Bone, I much appreciate your posts delving into this issue (Scull& Bones) and the related links, particularly since I’ve failed to comment on it myself. So far. Partly, as I said, because I’m not sure how to approach the issue. The situation certainly sucks…but can we come to any real conclusions about their exclusive secret society other than it stands as proof that despite the effort to paint Bush as a good ‘ol Texas boy, BOTH candidates are of the Northeast effete snob category? Perhaps we can….and we will continue to rely upon the astute reporting of our OWN Mr. Bone to keep us abreast of the situation (apologies to the FCC for the racy terminology)
But the Brahma is of the mind that those whose goal it is to dethrone the present junta would best be served by just calling it a “wash” , as in “Our douchbag vs. their douchbag” and concentrating on the deceit displayed in EVERYTHING the present guys undertake. Not just the case for war….the “clean air act” permits greater discharge of pollutants, the “healthy forest initiative” permits heavy logging in ecologically sensitive areas, “no child left behind leaves the neediest even FURTHER behind…(I think Kerry voted for at least THAT one!)…back to the point…> When we paint them both with the same Skull& Bones brush, we’re subliminally purveying the message that we’re better off with what we have. Not to me or you of course, as I hope would be the case with most people, but to that teenie, tiny, miniscule percent that actually DECIDED the last election and in all likelyhood will decide the next. This small group will have to be pandered to!
It is with this in mind that Brahma’s World would like to suggest the implementation of an “Alternative Patriot Act” with one goal in mind for the duration of this election year. These most certainly ARE extraordinary times as our entire way of life is being threatened. Not just from extreme terrorist actions, but from within our own borders, as basic Constitutional rights we’ve all taken for granted are being discarded. I think we owe it to ourselves, as well as those who will pass this way after we’re gone, to throw our complete and unquestioning support to WHOMEVER the Democratic nominee will be, rain or shine. Much like when Roger Clemmons became a Yankee. He was always a friggin’ douchbag…. but now he was OUR douchbag, so all was forgiven. Since he has now abandoned the Yankees for the Astros, I can once again hate his mongrel guts with a clear conscious.
Consider this an early call for unity. Let me state the obvious and say that unlike the 2000 affair, this campaign is going to get down & dirty….Texas steel caged death match, best 2 out of 3 falls, no holds barred, anything goes, winner take all, no disqualifications, last man standing….as the 50s ring announcers used to say, “Katy bar the door!” I’m not really sure what that means, but they were really excited when they said it.
This is why that with all the terrible problems to chose an issue from….the war, the lack of jobs, the ever-growing deficit that’s bankrupting us at the State level…the biggest issue in the Democratic primaries has been electability. Dean’s issues spoke to a groundswell of people and prodded the Party to the left. Unfortunately, he was an unsatisfactory messenger. Once the heat was turned up on him, he wilted like a day-lilly. It took a remarkably short time for him to fall from the projected candidate to an also-ran. Just imagine how he would be cut to ribbons by the over-funded Republican juggernaut! Clark caused some excitement, but his perceived lackluster performance in the New Hampshire debate exposed a potential weakness. Edwards makes a nice speech and presents a clean-cut image, but he will be attacked for his lack of experience during these trying times. He’s already been referred to as “The Breck Girl”, to denigrate his intelligence. He, of course, would be the perfect VICE-Presidential candidate, providing his main interest coincides with ours….to beat Bush.
So, apparently by default, Kerry appears to be “our” man. At least until the task at hand is completed. After his first couple of months in office, I’ll probably be ready and willing to proceed with impeachment hearings on HIM. But until that day, approximately one year (and change) from today…. I’m behind Kerry like I rooted for Roger. Cautiously at first….until it was time for the Championship Series, when I stood before the T.V. in my own living room to applaud him.
Now believe it or don’t dear friends, but my intention tonight was to keep political ranting to a minimum, in the interest of keeping your interest. I came to this realization when I sat down on Wednesday to read my message posted the night before….and I was even boring MYSELF to tears. But please bear with me, if you will. Basically, the overwhelming majority of Americans already know how they’re going to vote this coming November….which is essentially the same as 2000. By my estimates, 47% of the populace will vote Republican, 47% will vote Democrat. This leaves a 6% fringe element that will decide the eventual winner.
Despite the fact that incumbent Presidents are usually tough to beat, particularly during “times of war”, our early Brahma’s World projection predicts an EXCELLENT opportunity for the Democrats. Of course, as Randy Bone’s link about the questionable results from electronic voting in New Hampshire displays, the whole election may be moot. The owner of Diebold is a dedicated Ohio Republican who has “promised” to deliver his state to Bush, much like brother Jeb did for his state of Florida in the LAST debacle of an election! But for the sake of this conversation, let’s assume an honest vote count will be fact, for some reason.
There are 18 states where the difference between the parties in 2000 was 6% or less, meaning each party considers them as potential supporters this time. Some of them had as little as a 2% differential! However, in practically EVERY state, Ralph Nader captured 3%. If these people can be convinced to still cast votes, surely they’ll overwhelmingly go Democratic. If my calculations are correct, this leaves just the 3% clueless a-hole vote, which Bush will need almost in it’s entirety for victory. While these numbers seem to bode well for the Demos, there are problems inherent with capturing even a small slice of the clueless a-hole contingency.
Now, let’s look at the facts. The main issues affecting voter’s decisions are the most polarizing and clear cut (no pun intended) they’ve been since the 60s. This would explain the virtual split down the middle of public opinion. Only the clueless a-holes haven’t arrived at a solid decision. THIS could prove to be the Democrat’s Achilles’ heel.
The problem is….this lunatic fringe will likely decide their vote on some very minor issue that’s irrelevant considering what’s at stake, but upsets them…..like homosexual marriage! Since Kerry’s state is spearheading this movement, expect a full assault by the Republicans on this issue. My great fear is what the Brahma’s World analysis projects…. The 3% undecided morons find a non-issue to decide their vote….and there’s SURE to be many to chose from.
The gloves are already off. The Bush mouthpieces are out in full force….OUTRAGED at the Democrats doubting the veracity of Bush’s service record. They can’t BELIEVE the questions persist. How DARE we…? To combat these charges (and you can believe that’s the ONLY combat Bush or Cheney ever personally committed to) photos of Kerry in the same frame as a photo of Jane Fonda at an anti-war rally is being flashed on the T.V. all day long. Typical Republican “guilt by association” tactics. Paint the opponent with a wide brush, tie him politically to ANYONE you can gather bad publicity about. They’ll of course keep mentioning Ted Kennedy and Michael Dukakis as much as possible….as well as Bill & Hillary. A photo of Kerry with Jane Fonda….? It’s like a gift from heaven for them. Part of that 3% undecided vote have probably already decided to vote against Kerry just for that!
But the Demos have shown that they’re not going to bend over and take it in silence this time. If Bush wants to resort to old photos, he’d better be very careful. I’m pretty sure that someone, somewhere, has an old photo from Bush’s previous life as a carefree drunken coke-sniffer….perhaps at a bachelor party….with a drink in one hand and a half dressed whore in the other. Whoever has this….PLEASE look through your box of old photos and find it for the good of America!
I’m well over my allotted time…and well…I was going to say I’ll continue anyway….but I think perhaps I won’t. I wanted to share and dissect a good column…and I will do that, albeit next time. This time is mercifully now officially over.
