Hypocrisy - Our greatest National Resource

The following is reprinted from a portion of my message on Brahma's World

Old Strombo.... yeah, he really pulled one over on us. But...no mention of statutory rape though. Of course in 19??....to say nothing of the deep South.... a 16 year old girl was/is fair game for a 22 yr old. But apparently, the inter-racial aspect was considered WAY more taboo.

My imediate response? Typical. It's just so friggin' typical. The guy screaming loudest about keeping everybody segregated has an affair with a Black girl. During the Clinton impeachment, it was disclosed that the biggest instigator- Henry Hyde- had an affair with a secretary who he helped financially...while he was part of a "Christian" marriage. When confronted with the overwhelming evidence, he didn't deny it. His excuse? It was a "youthful indescretion". He was 45 at the time it happened.

Then of course, mention should be made T.V. evangilists the likes of Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Baker. They'll take money from the public to enable them to preach a lifestyle that means absolutely NOTHING to them, by way of their actions.

There are undoubedly MANY instances of such hypocrisy that can be sighted here. Allow me to invite any readers of this to add some. It doesn't have to be on the National stage.

I'll give you one more to kick it off. About a dozen or so years ago, there was a guy in the S.F. area who claimed to be a "Breathetarian". That is to say... he claimed that he could derive almost ALL of the daily nutritional requirments neccesary to support life...simply by breathing!!! His actual food intake was practically nil! He began to gather a following of people who wanted to do the same. To learn this methood, which takes MANY years to master... he charged them enough to lead a charmed life. Until....that fateful day one of his followers witnessed him leaving a McDonalds. I suppose if you happen to breath through your mouth... and an order of fries is in front of it... you may be exisiting simply by breathing. Although the claim of deriving enough nutrition to sustain life this way may be in doubt.

And now...a favorite feature of mine....it's

Letter(s) to the Editor...

This first one raises some interesting points:

Editor -- It's sobering to read Monday's papers, replete with time lines of Saddam Hussein's career. None mention that 35 years ago, the CIA helped install the Baathist party. That was only the start of our support for Saddam Hussein, whose tenure in power was inextricable from American goals in the region.

When this man is tried and made to face the consequences of his conduct, American policies should also be tried. Lest we forget how much they have cost and will cost, painful as it may be to know we put this man in power and helped keep him there.

~What's interesting to me... is the point that when Sadam is eventually brought to trial, if he's actually properly represented, the facts of the United States support of this douchbag MUST be raised! Which in turn leads me to think of Bush's remark that Saddam should be put to death. Not that I neccesarily think he shouldn't.... but it would sure be convienent for our government if he should just die.... after disclosing sensitive information to us first. That would be one sure fire way of supressing the sensitive information that WE want to protect.

Now...THIS one...is signed by a familiar sounding name....

Takedown
Roslyn, L.I.: Despite the aid and comfort offered by a large chunk of liberal America, we caught the despicable tyrant. One down, one to go.

Leonard Shiffrin
~Were these words of wisdom penned by a relative of our esteemed group member?

And finally....This letter to the N.Y. Post is certain to raise the ire of many readers of that conservative, Rupert Murdoock owned newspaper:

I am so glad Bush is liberating Iraq! I can't wait until he frees Tibet, China and Saudi Arabia too. It's awesome having a president who cares about freedom and rebuilding nations (except if we're talking about America).

Since he's going after dictators who ignore their citizens and threaten to use WMDs, shouldn't he turn himself into the police? Just asking.
Janice Amato
Manhattan

~Ask away Janice. Nobody's answering. Because, there aren't any good answers to that. See: The top of this page where the term, "hypocrisy" is explored.

That just about takes us full circle tonight. Have a great day everyone....

I bid you good night
