Brahma Speaks...still?... more?
~* Bob Fass was on the air tonight (Thurs.). In the second hour, he had a visit from the world’s foremost authority, Prof. Irwin Corey. He’s fantastic…still! I think he’s in his mid 80’s now. Like many veteran performers, he sounded kind of old and tired until he broke into character for a while. For the rest of the night he was as fast, funny and poignant as ever! Somebody called in to read a quote from the actor, Peter Ustinov, in the most recent edition of the old socialist newspaper, “The Daily Worker”:
“Terrorism is the war of the poor…War is the terrorism of the rich”
~* As the war for oil continues, the real war on terrorism continues… I couldn’t find the article on-line, so I’ll have to re-print a few excerpts here. By Kathy Gannon of Associated Press...
Two dozen U.S. Special Forces troops and hundreds of their Afghan allies swooped in on a border village Wednesday to drive out resurgent Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan. Under fierce attack, the Taliban fled into nearby mountains where they were pummeled by U.S. aircraft. It was the latest assault on rebel forces, who are regrouping after a U.S. coalition drove them from power 18 months ago. The article goes on to mention precise numbers of casualties..8 Taliban fighters wounded, 6 captured and arrested, another 60 entrenched “in the rugged Tor Ghar mountain range. Air support arrived from Bagram Air Base north of Kabul, about 6 hours after the battle started. By then 45 Special Forces soldiers and 250 Afghan soldiers drove the Taliban to into the mountains from the village of Sikai Lashki, 25 miles north of Spinboldak, the gateway to Afghanistan on the border with Pakistan”
After a few more paragraphs, including exactly how many rockets and how many rounds of bullets were fired by the air support, the article states: Evidence is mounting in the southern regions of Afghanistan that the Taliban is reorganizing and has found an ally in rebel commander, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, labeled a terrorist and hunted by U.S. troops. Then they quote the 2nd Corps. Commander in Kandahar (an Afghan soldier): “6 months ago their attacks were sporadic. But today there is a new organization to the Taliban”
Earlier in the week we lost two soldiers in an ambush there. This is where the real guilty parties can be found…yet we’re dangerously understaffed because of our premature move into Iraq. Note the top of the article…2 dozen Special Forces soldiers…24 men & women…six hours later they add another 21 plus minimal air support (2 jets, then 2 choppers). What the dealio? We’re still in danger as long as they let the Taliban dogs live. You can blame any and all who’ve lent them one ounce of support in any way…THEY’RE STILL THE ONES RESPONSIBLE! Why aren’t 300,00 troops stationed THERE instead of the tangent Bush and company have led us down?
~* April 4th…it was 35 years ago today that Dr. Martin L. King was gunned down in Memphis. Two months later R.F.K. followed. Quite a turning point for America. What could have been?
