Radio Unnameable
Well, my last post doesn't seem to have happened, so let me try again. If I'm repeating myself, that's the reason.
Since I've realized I can listen to radio from anywhere I want using the internet, I've been spending Thursday nights listening to the person who is known as "The father of free form radio", Bob Fass. They still let him have one night a week (he used to have five).
He's on from midnight till 3:30 Eastern time out of NYC. Hear commercial free radio!
I hear music and interviews I can't hear anywhere else. Like The Fugs, Paul Krasner, Phil Ochs, Dave Van Ronk, mega amounts of early Dylan (many bootlegged), Steve Goodman, The Incredible String Band, and one of the most amazing minds ever put on record,
the great, great, Lord Buckley. If you're not familiar with some of these names, I urge you to check them out. Those of you who do know these artists, will undoubtably start tuning in!
I'm listening right now, as I write this. Tonight, he played an excerpt from an old show at one point. He was interviewing someone
(I miised his name) that had just returned from England. He told Bob about a new group that was going to be big. He played some songs that he bought over there. The group was called, "The Who". I think they caught on for a while.
Right now, he's playing a Doc Watson record. I'll meet you there.
