You Are What You Eat!
A couple of years ago, my wife and I considered moving north from here, up the California coast. We took a ride there to look around and get some local newspapers. It just happened to be the same day as a huge annual motorcycle run and the highway was clogged at the one traffic light in the town of Willits. So we pulled into a small shopping center to get whatever newspapers they sold there. We also grabbed a free paper with real estate listings. As we sat in the car glancing through the freebie while splitting a sandwich and a coke, we noticed more than one place that seemed incredible! Twenty acres, half wooded, 4 br, 3 car garage, ....stuff like that. The price? Around $135,000. We were stunned silent (for about 10 seconds). "We could afford that!" we almost said in unison. "Well, where is that? Let's go THERE and check it out!"
When we came back to earth, we looked closer to see exactly where it was. It turns out, it was a nationally published paper and the property in question was in .....Carthage, Missouri!!! You MUST read the fine print! I guess they list properties in the most distressed areas that sell for the cheapest prices to people in far away places. It was probably next to this place. Don't miss the part about how they feed the livestock that we eat!
