Religious cults are still thriving here in California. Apparently, one of the more successful ones is run by a gentleman who goes by the name of A Di Da. I'm not kidding. He has gone through a few name changes before he decided on A Di Da. When he started his illustrious guru career he was known as Bubba Free John. I'm still not kidding.
Let me tell you, this guru gig is a sweet deal if you can get it! Rich people donate many thousands of dollars to support him and the furthering of his teachings. He used to own an island in Fiji, where he lived with two of his three wives, until the government was overthrown and he was tossed out. Here's a funny story about buying a house where a future guru spent his youth. (On Long Island, N.Y.!)
